Observing what happens when we mix magnesium with water (cold and hot), magnesium with hydrochloric acid and burning magnesium in flame.
Year 10 concluded that when we mix magnesium with cold water nothing happens, when we mix magnesium with hot water bubbles are formed and the solution becomes purple although they didn’t observe this because the water wasn’t very hot as it should be. When they mixed magnesium with hydrochloric acid they observed the hydrogen formed by seeing the fumes, they also observed fizzing (bubbles formed) and magnesium disappeared. When they burned magnesium in the flame (with the alcohol burner), they observed a white powder being formed, magnesium decreased in size (mass) and a glowing splint.
IT WAS AN AMAZING LESSON
